Terence Duff’s first recorded appearance on the stage was in November 1924 at the Royal Theatre, Bury St. Edmunds with the Ben Greet Players in ‘the Scottish play’. He was 17 years and 1 month old and had not long left school. Later that decade, he worked with Frank Gerald in “The Seventh Guest”, before giving himself the stage-name Patrick Desmond and going off on his own. Born in 1907 at Sandhurst, he died on a London bus of a heart attack in 1976.
