- To Patrick Desmond Players production of The Devil Inside Him, by Stella Linden and John Osborne, Theatre Royal, Huddersfield, 29th May - 3rd June 1950: “This is the first performance of a play by John Osborne. The author-credit is actually “by John J. Osborn and Stella Linden”. John started the play and Stella helped him finish it. She then directed it and played the part of Dilys. The play then disappeared. It resurfaced as “Cry for Love” at the Pembroke Theatre, Croydon in January 1962 with Michael Williams and Julia Lockwood. Patrick Desmond directed. - To production of Lady of the House, by Bruce Walker, Theatre Royal, Bath, 1952 - 1953: “One could almost say that author Bruce Walker was one of the first playwrights to precede John Osborne, Sheila Delaney and others of that ilk into the kitchen sink. He was more into the rough and tumble of crime and prostitution, and tried the patience of the Lord Chamberlain on more than one occasion. Here, we have a young Anthony Newley playing a bad boy and a young blonde Peggy Evans playing opposite him. Elwyn Brook Jones was the bad guy! Patrick Desmond (my father) worked with Bruce Walker on a number of occasions throughout the ‘50s and ‘60s. Yes, I did see this production. Christopher Duff Ontario Canada ”
- To production of Black Coffee, by Agatha Christie, Bristol Hippodrome, 1962 - 1963: “Terence Duff’s first recorded appearance on the stage was in November 1924 at the Royal Theatre, Bury St. Edmunds with the Ben Greet Players in ‘the Scottish play’. He was 17 years and 1 month old and had not long left school. Later that decade, he worked with Frank Gerald in “The Seventh Guest”, before giving himself the stage-name Patrick Desmond and going off on his own. Born in 1907 at Sandhurst, he died on a London bus of a heart attack in 1976. Christopher Duff Ontario Canada”
- To production of He Who Gets Slapped, by Leonid Andreyev, Birmingham Repertory Theatre, 20th February - 12th March 1926: “My father, Terence Duff (1907–1976), was only 17 years and 5 months old when he appeared in this production with a young Ralph Richardson. He attended school at St. Paul’s, but spent more time in the West End theatre gods than in the classroom. He left school and went straight on the stage. Around 1929–1930 he gave himself the stage-name Patrick Desmond and spent the rest of his life running and acting in provincial repertory companies, with very occasional forays into the West End with plays “Peter Pan”, “Friendly Relations” and “Four Winds”. - To Colwyn Bay Repertory Company production of The First Mrs Fraser, by St John Ervine, New Rialto Theatre, Colwyn Bay, 16th - 21st May 1938: “Ruita Dagmar (1912–1995) is my mother. Born Margaret (Rita) Murison in Dumfries, she married my father, Terence Duff a.k.a. Patrick Desmond (1907–1976), in Edinburgh. She and my father were at the New Rialto, Colwyn Bay for about 18 months, he directing and acting, she acting. Pauline Quarmby met my mother’s brother when he came visiting and they married. Pauline thus became mu aunt! Christopher Duff Ontario, Canada 18 April 2014”
