I was in the out of town try-out which played in Harrogate in 1986. Arthur Lowe was a joy but he was so funny that I couldn’t keep a straight face and was dropped from the London production. (The play closed after a short run but by then I was in Once a Catholic which ran for five years). Was saddened to see that the delightful Debbie Watling (I played her boyfriend) passed a way a few years ago.
