While in the U.S. Air Force in Thule AFB Greenland Dec 1962 December 1963 I produced, directed and played the prisoner. Primarily because there were approximately 10 women in Thule and the play only called for one unconscious actor. Received two letters from Ms. Boland and a two page letter from Alex Guinness. Ordered the costumes from P.J. Bourke Dame Street Dublin. Tim Flood played the interrogator – aged about 20 – I was 27 years old. After transfer to Castle AFB in Atwater, California December 1963 to October 1965 I started The Valley Players in Merced, Cal. and opened with yes “The Prisoner.” How I learned 70 plus pages of lines when I had trouble learning eight lines of poetry at Castleknock College I have trouble understanding. The Thule audience was made up of 90
% young airmen 18 to 25 years old – Not quite what an audience at this age was looking for. Vincent J Lavery Email: vjlavery@yahoo.com
