I saw the world premiere performance of Blondel at the Theatre Royal Bath back in 1983. It wasn’t supposed to be the premiere, but the previous performances got cancelled as the production wasn’t quite ready. On the opening night the Gondola in Venice, which was on wheels, got stuck and they had to get the stage hands on to shift it. Very enjoyable. Tim Rice, Stephen Oliver, the Cast and Anthony Van Laast (Choreographer) came on the stage at the end to rapturous applause. The cast were all excellent.
