Last five observations
- To National Theatre production of Plunder, by Ben Travers, The Old Vic, London, National Theatre - Lyttelton, National Theatre, and other locations, started 8th January 1976: “I was 17 when I saw this production in 1978. My uncle had recommended I see it as a great example of an “Aldwych” farce. I laughed so hard I fell out of my seat on no less than 2 occasions. My cheeks and stomach hurt from laughter. A truly glorious evening of theatre!”
- To St George's Theatre Company production of Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, St George's Theatre, Tufnell Park, 1976: “On the evening when I saw this production (I was 15 years old at the time), someone was talking or coughing so loudly that it interrupted Sarah Badel in the middle of “Gallop apace, you fiery footed steeds, towards Phoebus’ lodging.” She gave the person an icy look, and then said to the audience; “Well that’s done it. Now I’ll have to start again!” And she left the stage, entered once again, and restarted the speech. She was brilliant.”
