The Gift of the Gorgon
A playwright dies violently. His reviled son begs to write his father’s biography. His stepmother agrees on condition he tells the whole truth – at whatever cost. Peter Shaffer’s powerful play about violence and revenge versus reason and restraint, shocks and provokes in the same way as his earlier work ‘Equus’. Greek myth, music, mask and physical theatre combine in this Grotowskian influenced theatre of cruelty.
