The Flag Lieutenant

This production was performed at Sandringham, by royal command, on Friday 13^th November 1908, to mark King Edward VII’s birthday. There was no performance at the Playhouse that evening. (‘Chit Chat’, The Stage 22^nd October 1908, page 17.)

After touring, the production was revived at the Playhouse from 1^st to 27^th November 1909.

Play description

Comedy drama, first performed in 1908 and credited to Major W P Drury (1861–1949) and Major Leo Trevor (1865–1927). Having saved a fort from Bashi Bazouks, a lieutenant allows an amnesiac major to take the credit and is branded a coward.
