The Flag Lieutenant

This production was performed at Sandringham, by royal command, on Friday 13th November 1908, to mark King Edward VII’s birthday. There was no performance at the Playhouse that evening. (‘Chit Chat’, The Stage 22nd October 1908, page 17.)

After touring, the production was revived at the Playhouse from 1st to 27th November 1909.

Play description

Comedy drama, first performed in 1908 and credited to Major W P Drury (1861–1949) and Major Leo Trevor (1865–1927). Having saved a fort from Bashi Bazouks, a lieutenant allows an amnesiac major to take the credit and is branded a coward.
