Sedgemoor
Set during the Pitchfork Rebellion of 1685, when the men of the west country rose to follow the Duke of Monmouth against King James l, was not only the last armed uprising on British soil, but also the most thrilling and extraordinary episode in the west country’s rich history.
John Fletcher’s exciting play tells the story of two south western families torn apart as the men march out to join the rebels, and traces the fateful path to the climactic battle on Sedgemoor and their trial before the notorious Judge Jefferys.
