Don’t Lose Your Head
Here is a curiosity. This play was originally produced in May 1950 at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham and June 1950 at the Prince of Wales, Cardiff . One month later it turned up at the Grand Theatre, Leeds, now adapted by Talbot Rothwell, and with a largely different cast and director. Valerie Forrest retained her role as Liz and Charles Hill switched from Mr Nu to P C Higgs. The set design remained by Stanley Moore. Apparently the plot revolved around an Indian Potentate arriving in England seeking a human head for a fertility ritual!
Sixteen years later Talbot Rothwell was involved with an entirely different “Don’t Lose Your Head” as part of the Carry On film cycle.
