Technical difficulties delayed the Liverpool premiere by a day and the West End opening by a fortnight. The latter was then delayed by another week because Renato Rascel was ill.

Eleanor Fazan was announced as director and choreographer of this show in February 1963. She was still being referred to in reviews of the Liverpool run, but the West End programme contained no director credit and attributed the choreography to Ralph Beaumont.
