CORRECTION: I, Rosemary Gerrette, played Sissy in the 1968 production of People Are Living There with Carmen Silvera. We then played it at the Mermaid Theatre, London, later in 1968. This was the world premiere of People Are Living There – NOT the 1972 production, nor Athol’s in 1969 in South Africa.

Observations

  1. On 29th March 2024 at 2:51 a.m., Rosealan noted:

See my statement above. I was always fed up that AtholFugard, in the Playbill, called his production of PeopleAre?i ing There in South Africa in 1969…as the world premiere, when Glasgow Citizens did it in 1968 up in Glasgow a year earlier! We in the cast, incl. Carmen Silvera, all knew it was the world premiere as did the Press in their stories about the opening.
