A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
Press night at the Strand Theatre was 3rd October 1963.
Frankie Howerd’s replacement, Dave King, was ill for much of his tenure. Howerd returned from an engagement in Beirut on Friday 30th July, heard KIng was still indisposed, and played Pseudolus on the last night without fee. (‘Chit Chat’, The Stage Thursday 5th August 1965, page 8.)
