Private Lives
Opening show in George Baker’s first Candida Plays repertoire season. The other productions were GHOSTS and a double-bill of A RESOUNDING TINKLE and AUGUSTUS DOES HIS BIT. This one played 13th to 17th June, then 24th June, 5th to 7th July, 17th to 18th July, and finally 22nd July.
The first night was attended by Noël Coward himself. (‘Gala night at the theatre’, Bury Free Press 16th June 1967, page 19.)
Reviewed in The Stage on 22nd June 1967 (‘Reperory: Bury St Edmunds’, page 16), including Coward’s comment: “They are playing it deeply and sincerely and just as I like to see it played.”
