Observations

  1. On 3rd January 2017 at 3:17 p.m., JMA noted:

    This was the first time that the production of Shakespeare’s Richard II was staged at the Birmingham Rep. It was the 30th Shakespearean play to be staged at this theatre since it had opened in 1913.

    Sir Barry Jackson edited the text, retaining scenes 2 and 3 in Act 5, which concern the character and position of the Duke of Aumerle. These scenes were mostly omitted in modern productions because of the time factor.
