Last five observations
- To production of The Rivals, by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, Theatre Royal, Haymarket, London, October 1966 - August 1967: “This was the first London production I ever saw – very exciting to be so high up (must have been the circle) with opera glasses! My mother took me when I was fourteen so I don’t remember much, apart from the truly memorable Margaret Rutherford as Mrs Malaprop and of course Sir Ralph. I also remember Celia Bannerman as a delightful Lydia Languish. I’ve been prompted to seek out this production having seen Richard Bean and Oliver Chris’s hilarious and also massively moving adaptation at the National Theatre – I recommend it.”
