Plant in the Sun
Performed on a Tuesday to Friday basis, this was advertised as ‘the great new play of a stay-in strike’.
At this early stage, the Unity Theatre didn’t publicise its actors’ names – though Paul Robeson, as guest star, was obviously unmissable.
At the Unity, the play was performed alongside a short piece by Albert Maltz, called REHEARSAL. The one-off West End performance was accompanied by Irwin Shaw’s BURY THE DEAD, which at the Unity had been the Saturday and Sunday attraction.
