A Change in the Heir
Once upon a time, in a castle in the air, far, far away …
Inspired by North European folk and fairy tales, this chamber musical tells the story of competing branches of the same family. Each hopes to inherit the crown and kingdom, raise a daughter as a prince and a son as a princess, and yet, there can only be one heir.
A Change in the Heir was first produced in 1988 to huge acclaim at The New Tuners Theatre, Chicago and was followed by a short run on Broadway. 35 years later, it is finally time for this enchanting musical to be revisited. With its score and resonant charm, audiences will be left questioning why and how this musical was so very nearly forgotten.
A concert version of the music from the show.
