“A quiet country garage owned by an ordinary English family suddenly becomes the scene of something so intense and dramatic that as the story unfolds itself one can hardly realise that it might happen anywhere.” – Windsor publicity, 1945

Cabaret crooner Megan comes between two brothers, stoic John and neurotic Larry, who run an isolated filling station. When Larry kills their invalid stepfather for money, a policeman, Sweeny, becomes involved. The fifth character is an old garage hand, Bright.
