The Best Cellar
Macabre satire about a family of Transylvanian vampires moving into a Connecticut farmhouse and sleeping in four coffins in the cellar.
Reviewed in The Stage on 19th November 1959: ‘Dulcie Gray leads the way in ghoulish fr0lic’ (page 18), and the Nottingham Guardian on 8th December: ‘Vampires are life and ghoul of the party’ (page 4).
The American playwright, Jonathan Bates, was described in publicity as a 32-year-old flight purser with TWA. The director, DeWitt Bodeen, was a screenwriter responsible for such classic 1940s films as CAT PEOPLE and THE SEVENTH VICTIM.
