Happy Few

Intended for a West End run at the St James’s Theatre from 6th July 1944, this play was postponed until October, coming back with a different director and only five original cast members.

Advertised in Leeds as “The play we’ve all been waiting for … A story of El Alamein by Paul Anthony, who was ‘there when it happened’.”

Described by Bernard Buckham in the Daily Mirror as “a sincere but poor imitation of JOURNEY’S END set at El Alamein with the Stranger from THE PASSING OF THE THIRD FLOOR BACK looking in to lend a hand.” (17th October 1944, page 7.)
