Women of Twilight
This record-breaking tour – advertised as ‘Adults Only’ – lasted over a year and was predominantly staged in Moss Empire music halls.
There were various cast changes along the way, but Eileen Stevens (Vivianne), Joanna Glass (Olga), Ann King (Sal), Melanie Charlton (Veronica), Rosamund Lesley (Rosie) and Jeanne Mockford (varying roles) seem to have appeared throughout. Jean Shepeard, who also co-produced, began and ended the tour as Mrs Allistair, with Jeanne Mockford taking over from her in the middle prior to returning to the role of Jess.
See ‘Mr Woodward: The Happy Manager’, The Stage 20th Oct0ber 1955 (pages 1 and 10).

Play description
“First presented in 1951 and filmed the following year, Sylvia Rayman’s WOMEN OF TWILIGHT is a hard-hitting ‘all-women play’ in which unmarried mothers are ruthlessly exploited by an unscrupulous, baby-farming landlady.” – 11F publicity, 2013–14
