The Oresteia
Director Peter Hall commissioned poet Tony Harrison to translate Aeschylus’ trilogy and composer Harrison Birtwhistle and 16 actors to perform the three plays in masks, in the Olivier Theatre (itself based on Epidaurus). In rehearsal for 18 months trying to perfect the pulse which ran through the entire event (5pm-11pm), which was performed around 30 times
