One for the Road
One For The Road is a play about a nasty subject – torture. Pinter himself plays Nicolas, a high-ranking government official in an unnamed dictatorship who interviews, separately, three members of one dissident family: Victor, his wife Gila, and their seven-year-old son, Nicky… For all its cruelties and its glaring political agenda, the play grips because Pinter uses conversation itself as an art of war.
