Allegations

A black peasant farmer in Zimbabwe has his home burnt down during a politically motivated attack; a white commercial farmer suffers a farm invasion of his own. The two meet and realise that they have more in common than previously imagined. Developed by Zimbabwean director Patience Tawengwa and playwright Mandisi Gobodi, ‘Allegations’ examines Zimbabwe’s brutal past and present and is a true story of hope, fear and frustration in the country today. Originally commissioned by the Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) as part of the HIFA-Direct programme, in partnership with the British Council and Young Vic.
