Hamlet: Blood in the Brain

Classic tale of intrigue and revenge told through hip-hop, rap, body percussion and song. Set in the pulsing streets of Oakland, California in the late 1980s. Re-imagined by internationally acclaimed playwright Naomi Iizuka and performed by award-winning Oakland HS students. Developed in partnership with the California Shakespeare theatre, Campo Santo and Oakland community members. A contemporary spin on the original Shakespearean script, forcefully told by the predominantly African-American student company OakTechRep.
