Base Elements

Double bill. Jody Sperling’s ‘Elements of Loïe Fuller’ re-imagines the dazzling spectacles of early modern dancer Loïe Fuller in ‘Dance of the Elements’. Sperling swirls an enormous winged costume in eddying spirals conjuring up earth, water, wind, fire and ether. ‘Captivating’ (New York Times). Lucy Suggate’s ‘Liquid Gold’ is a visual delight, a sensual and intricate solo where the performer embarks on a luxurious transformation. ‘Latin Beach’ examines the relationship between the childhood ideas and adult realities of being a dancer. Splicing together genuine and forced actions from the articulate to the ridiculous it reveals what lies behind the façade.
