Penelopiad

Fresh from its Canadian Amateur Premiere in Calgary, Aberta, Canada: Homer’s ‘the Odyssey’ is recreated from the point of view of Odysseus’ desperate housewife Penelope and her 12 wronged maids. Penelope, the long-suffering yet ever faithful wife of the wily, wandering warrior, recounts the story of her 20 year wait for Odysseus to return home in a succession of clever monologues shared from Hades. Woven throughout her maids and a motley collection of questionable characters collaborate on the telling in a tangle of songs and spectacles; foreshadowing their ultimately cruel fate.
