(Don’t) Look Back in Anger?

1956 – Jimmy Porter voices a generation’s disillusionment with political wars and lack of conviction in an era of prosperity that promises much but could be too good to be true. The impotent howl of frustration echoes down the century and in 2010 another generation find sympathy with their forbears as they struggle to keep step in the pursuit of material progress. University educated and ambitious, they find little inspiration in a society reeling from oil wars, economic meltdown and political sleaze. A group of young people re-imagine Osborne’s seminal play for a contemporary audience.
