Hedda Gabler
Hedda longs to be free. She struggles with an existence she finds devoid of excitement and enchantment. Returning home from her honeymoon, Hedda is already bored of her marriage, her husband, her life.
Determined and destructive, manipulative and pitiful, she sets in motion a chain of events to improve her station that will become her undoing.
Considered one of the great dramatic roles in theatre, Hedda was given new life in this production of Brian Friel’s adaptation of Ibsen’s brilliant masterpiece that explores the descent of Hedda Gabler into the treacherous void between expectation and reality.
Played out swiftly over 24 hours, Ibsen’s startingly resonant play is a thrilling portrayal of the free-spirited Hedda. Railing against a life of crippling convention, Hedda cuts through the lives of everyone in her orbit.
