Hitting Home

Adapted from Andrea Ashworth’s acclaimed autobiography ‘Once in a House on Fire’ Hitting Home tells the story of Andrea and her sister growing up in the 1970’s.

A family home filled with joy of music, dancing and laughter is eclipsed by destructive sadness as the sisters alongside their widowed mother are confronted by poverty and abuse at the hands of their step fathers.

The family’s differing responses form the basis of this captivating and heartfelt play, which fuses dance and physical theatre with live and recorded music. Andrea’s determination to transcend the difficulties of her childhood and triumph over adversity provides a powerfully uplifting message of hope and courage.
