A Measure of Cruelty

A play by

This is the story of a middle-aged spinster in love with an amiable young man of weak character whom she buys for a husband by paying off his debts. It is described as having elements of comedy, the macabre and the bourgeois intent on its own destruction. The pathos is in the selfishness of each character to repay the other’s injustice with hatred.
