Birthday Honours
NOTES from the previous production about BIRTHDAY HONOURS as written by Jonathan Meddings
The first English light comedy of the present repertory season will be Paul Jones’ highly successful play BIRTHDAY HONOURS. The story of the society doctor, surrounded by a collection of organising, dictatorial, scheming womenfolk who lead a completely selflsh, pleasure-loving life in luxury, without a thought or care of his feelings, is told with a relish for the stylish, witty dialogue and awareness of comic possibility in the situation which is the hallmark of really first class English comedy. For this production it will be a double pleasure to welcome Gilbert Vernon to the company as producer and Charmian Eyre, an actress of considerable experience and ability. You may remember her polished performance in THE BOSTON STORY at this theatre last year. I feel sure you will agree that this delightfully refreshing comedy makes for a very enjoyable evening in the theatre.
