Dracula
Harry L Warburton’s long-lived No 1 tour, starting while his West End production was still running and proudly advertised as ‘THE MOST CRITICISED PLAY OF THE CENTURY’ (The Stage, 25th August 1927).
Edmund Blake – director of this production and its initial Dracula – had originated the role when the play was first presented at Derby in May 1924.

Play description
Hamilton Deane’s famous stage adaptation of the Bram Stoker novel, first produced at the Grand Theatre, Derby from 15th to 20th May 1924. Deane’s adaptation was itself adapted by John L Balderston for presentation on Broadway in October 1927 [qv].
