Hansel and Gretel
Dark, macabre and wickedly funny, Welsh National Opera’s Olivier award-winning Hansel and Gretel is a grown up exploration of this classic fairytale.
“How are we to get out of the forest now?”‘
Hansel and Gretel’s mother comes home, exhausted and empty-handed, to find her children insatiably ravenous. She snaps and drives them out into the forest. Poor Hansel and Gretel suffer throughout. They are punished by the forest; punished for not finding food; punished for taking food from within the forest and terrorised by the wicked Witch who threatens to cook them. But at least she gets her just desserts…
This darkly beautiful production, with strange and surreal characters is magical and mysterious. This is your chance to see a truly theatrical event which has already overwhelmed critics.
