Maud Rolanda

Born Maud Hodge in Bethnal Green, her father, James Hodge, died when she was 10 months old & her mother remarried George Hughes. Her singing debut was 30 June1909 at Bechstein Hall, London. She trained under Mr Leon de Sousa, a Portuguese tenor. She would appear to have stopped singing c1914. She married in 1918 & had one daughter. She spent her later life in South Africa, where she died in 1963
