Last five observations
- To Royal Shakespeare Company production of Tango, by Slawomir Mrozek, Aldwych Theatre, London, 25th May 1966 (press night): “I was Secretary to the Associate Directors at the time. Trevor Nunn was not the original Arthur – I confess I hadn’t realised it was Michael Williams who was not, at that time, particularly famous. Trevor stepped into the role at a couple of days’ notice when MW fell ill and was unable to go on. Trevor very soon developed a voice/larynx problem – he was not a trained actor, but rather a director and distinguished Cambridge graduate. I thought the play was great: thoroughly enjoyed it at the time, but I was not terribly critical back then. I seem to remember the critics were less enthusiastic.”
