I have a programme, from the De La Warr Pavilion, Main Hall (Entertainments Manager – Edmund Rhodes). The production commenced on Easter Monday, April 10th, 1939 with a matinee, and carried on through the week. The whole production was under the personal supervision of W. Johnstone-Douglas on behalf of the Chanticleer Company, and Matthew Forsyth, on behalf of the Forsyth Players. I have put in the alterations made by hand on the list. I also have a publicity still of my grandfather in his role as Albert Porter, the bashful lover.”

My grandfather, Eric Gledhill, appeared in the production. Apparently, Stewart Granger was “The Queen of the Giants”! I don’t know what part my grandfather took.”
