- To production of The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde, Bristol Old Vic - Little Theatre, 1964: “At the same time as this production was going on, there was a tremendous racket coming from the main Colston Hall (of which the Little Theatre was part)which was so loud that the actors had to almost shout their lines. At the interval I went out to the corridor which linked the theatre to the Hall to investigate, and found scores of screaming young girls lying down in and being carried out to the corridor from the Hall. It was the Beatles! They performed there on 15/3/63, 15/11/63 and 10/11/64. Can anyone narrow that down? Probably one of the 1963 dates, I’d guess. iainbach”
