Observations

  1. On 8th March 2010 at 8:27 p.m., Maggie D’Araujo noted:

Daniel Day-Lewis gave a tour-de-force performance in this play, set in a classroom of ‘forgotten’ students. At one point, he explodes with anger and throws a school chair to the floor. It broke and, as I was sitting in the front row of the studio, a piece hit me. I wasn’t hurt, but afterwards in the bar, he asked if I was ok. I would occasionally bump into him on the street in Bristol, and he’d ask how my ‘war wound’ was and I’d say ‘playing up a bit today’ then I’d limp away. What a lovely man!

I remember this production because it was so amazing. The play was brilliant and Daniel Day-Lewis’s performance was a tour de force. It was done when the Bristol Old Vic was in its heyday because they had a rep company so you could see amazing actors in different parts in a short space of time.
