Hell’s Lagoon
World premiere of ‘A Drama of the South Sea Islands’.
Originally acquired by producers Danny O’Neil and John Alexander in 1949, with a production planned for January 1950, John N Menzies’ play was eventually produced by Hubert Woodward in 1953 with a view to West End presentation. Cardiff and Hull, however, were the only dates. A second production, also featuring Stanley Beard, played for just one week at the Camberwell Palace, from 13th July 1953. (See The Stage: 29th September 1949, page 6; 26th March 1953, page 10 [review]; 9th July 1953, page 8.)
