The Flat Next Door

Single Sunday-night performance. See ‘Chit Chat’ (The Stage 2nd December 1948, page 6) and ‘The Whitehall’ (The Stage 16th December 1948, page 7).

David Wehl finished writing this play on Monday 18th October, the day after his previous play, THE COUNTRY HOUSE (qv), had been given an exactly similar Sunday night performance by the same group. (‘Chit Chat’, The Stage 25th November 1948, page 6.)

“The ‘Under Thirty Group’ consists of a number of young actors and actresses who rehearse and put on new plays in their spare time in order to show critics, backers and agents what they are capable of when given the chance. All work is voluntary and none makes any profit from it.” – ‘Theatre Notes’, Kensington News and West London Times 10th December 1948 (page 2)
