An anthology of Shakespearean scenes devised by Douglas Cleverdon, celebrating in words and music how the plays were staged in London between the 16th and 19th centuries. Included Shakespearean adaptations by John Dryden, Colley Cibber and Nahum Tate, together with Maurice Baring’s ‘diminutive drama’, THE REHEARSAL.
