Fare Play

Advertising play by Neil Tyfield, with free tickets available from gas showrooms. Comic cooking adventures of a married couple from their honeymoon right up to their Silver Wedding anniversary.

Food and wine were prepared on stage and sampled by the audience. As well as touring the country, the production was presented on a three-performances-per-day basis at the Ideal Home Exhibition in London (March 1959) and Edinburgh (October-November 1959).

Ken Haward and Rosemary Murray moved on to a sequel, FARE AND WARM, demonstrating gas appliances in a dramatic context. (See ‘Gas Board Comedy at City Hall’, West Briton and Cornwall Advertiser 23rd November 1959, page 2.)
