Breakaway
“August Bank Holiday afternoon, and for the rest of the week, patrons of the Theatre Royal, Windsor will have the opportunity of seeing an entirely new play by Ivor Novello … This is probably the most ambitious production Windsor has seen, and the author is directing the rehearsals. Mr Novello is a keen admirer of the Windsor Repertory Company, and has always promised them a new play, and BREAKAWAY is the fulfilment of that promise.” – Uxbridge and West Drayton Gazette, 1st August 1941, page 8.
Novello had previously acted with the company in a revival of his play I LIVED WITH YOU (17th-22nd June 1940). This new play, known in development as BREAK FOR ROMANCE, was never published and appears never to have been revived.
