La Prisonnaire
As an early play dealing with the subject of lesbianism this was presented on Broadway under the title “The Captive” and it was closed down after 160 performances. This and similar plays led to the introduction of obscenity laws in the United States.
As the Arts Theatre was a club theatre this production was not subject to censorship by the Lord Chamberlain.
