“For the protagonists of Damian Gorman’s play, set in a drying-out ward of a Northern Irish hospital during the dead period between Christmas and New Year, 1974 has not been a good one. But it is a time to reflect, and when the stern doctor in charge relinquishes control for a few days, the patients find release under the new, liberal regime. Inspired by his late brother’s own experiences of being in an alcohol treatment unit, Gorman’s play could be the first hard-hitting drama of 2006.” – The Guardian (Guide), 21st January 2006
