Just before 3.00 am on 17th August, hours after the final Liverpool performance, Bonar Colleano was killed in his sports car and fellow actor Michael Balfour injured. They were replaced for the following week’s Golders Green transfer. (Daily Herald, 18th August 1958, page 1.) Balfour subsequently returned for the final week at Streatham Hill. (Norwood News, 22nd August 1958, page 2.)
