Age of Consent
Young Ted Bromley is engaged to Marty Nutting – but then his former landlady, Mrs Bloom, levels the bombshell accusation that he was previously intimate with her underage, and pregnant, daughter Doris.
The tagline in the regions was ‘It Could Happen to Your Son!!’ Refused a booking at Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park Theatre, the production was diverted to the Edinburgh Lyceum instead. (‘Eastbourne Bans New Play’, Eastbourne Herald Chr0nicle 18th July 1953, page 1.)
The West End run managed only nine performances.
