World premiere. Performed as a double-bill with the same author’s THE ORCHESTRA [qv].
A TV version of the play (with Michael Redgrave, Miriam Karlin, Harold Lang and Imogen Hassall) was broadcast in the BBC’s ‘Wednesday Play’ series on 24 January 1968.
The play was finally staged in the original French at Café-Théâtre des Halles, Paris in October 1974.
